Nashville: April 15th, 2006

The curse is finally lifted.  I’m back in Victory Lane.  Even won that damn guitar.

Now smile.

Soft lips pressed against my cheek and I feel a small hand on my hip as the cameras flash.

It’s time.

I won’t keep playing this game.

Slip away as soon as I’m able and spot the coach so often parked near mine.  I don’t care about his motivations.  I don’t care if he’s trying to replace his “protégé.”  I just need that understanding he’s silently offered for months.

Knock on the door.  Blue eyes lock with green.

“I’d like that beer now.”
