AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is part of my series of drabbles for 26_drabbles and is set almost a two months after Kevin ran from Dale.  This story is set in Daytona, the first week the Busch series is back with the Cup series and takes place Thursday after practice. Picks up shortly after The Thaw.

Daytona: June 29th, 2006

Silence. 

That’s been my world.  Nothing can reach me here in the dark.

Not since he went away.

Knock at the door, echoing in the emptiness.  Hand at the latch, too scared to hope.

But he’s there.  He’s here.  I don’t know what to say.

Emotional, green eyes say so much.  Soft lips and a strong embrace I never thought I’d feel again speak straight to my heart.

So much I thought I needed to tell him.  So much I planned to say.

But there’s no need.

I can see it all in his eyes. 

Silence never felt so right.
