AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is part of my series of drabbles for 26_drabbles and picks up post race at Richmond after Kevin lead 272 laps only to lose the race to Junior through pit strategy.  Kev had won the Busch race the day before and was going for the sweep.
AUTHOR'S NOTE2: I can't even tell you how many times I rewrote this one! It had two completely different versions. I'm still not certain I love it but...here's the result.

Richmond: May 6th, 2006

The race was mine.

Over 270 laps of it were mine until he lucked out and ruined my weekend sweep.

But…he does look good in victory lane.

Hurry to meet him, the only one I want to see.  Head inside and his sheepish grin instantly melts my heart.

He’s not the only one lucky today.

Words of apology and congratulation, but our eyes say so much more.

And I’m tired of thinking.

So I don’t.

Crush my lips to his, and it’s so different from before.

Fire.  Adrenalin.  Longing.   So very sweet.

Heart and body take control.

And I fall.
