AUTHOR'S NOTE: This is part of my series of drabbles for 26_drabbles and is set six weeks after Kevin and Dale got back together. This story takes place in Watkins Glen, after Kevin won the Cup race.

Sweet darkness falls over six weeks of perfection and we tumble into each other’s arms.
Savor the solitude of the track, its twists and turns mirroring our path into each other’s hearts.
My win is ours and each touch is so easy, each caress natural as breathing. Drown in his kiss, the world fading away.
No one hears the turn of the lock.
Neither of us know the world is about to change.
Door opens, letting the outside in, but still we cling to each other.
Words shatter our darkness.
“Kevin. I want to come home. I want you back.”
