Harvick’s Hee Haw Speedway - Kernersville, NC - February 3rd, 2009

“So you gonna tell me what you drug me all the way out here for or what?”

“Relax, Shifty.  What’s wrong, the twenty minute drive from Clemmons too much for you?”

“No, I wanna know what I’m in for when I’m drug out into the woods, especially when I concerns you.”

“Oh, c’mon you act like I’m takin’ you out for an ambush or something.”

“Way my life’s been going….”

“What was that?”

“Nothing, nothing, just…talking to myself.”

“Would you rather talk to the bear?”

“What?  What the hell are you talking about Kev--”

“Kidding, Bowyer.  Would you chill out?  I thought you might like to have a little fun.”

Poor Cowboy.  He’s still all moody.  Green Eyes is trying to help though.  He told me so before we came out here.  I’m not sure if I’m going to be getting another “mission” anytime soon, even though he told me I did a good job.  He got real quiet after he heard what the Cowboy said and then took the recorder away.  I don’t know why.  Wouldn’t he want to know the Cowboy needed help?

“I’m worried about what your idea of fun might be.”

“Just a little friendly competition.  Thought you might like a little preseason rumble before media day.”

“You got the carts out?  I thought you closed ‘Hee Haw’ for the offseason cause things got too competitive.”

“Yeah, well, maybe I changed my mind.”

“You know, the boys at your shop hear about this they might get jealous.”

“Let ‘em.  About time you and I had a real showdown anyway.”

I don’t know what Green Eyes did, but he finally got the Cowboy to crack a smile.  Maybe he just needed someone to make him feel special.  I know I don’t like being left out.

“So, what made you want to come out here and get your ass kicked anyway?”

“Getting a little ahead of yourself, aren’tcha Bowyer?  I do have the home track advantage, ya know.”

“Like that’s gonna save your ass.  Hey, what are you doing with the bear?”

“What’s wrong?  Afraid he might bring me an unfair advantage?”

“You’re gonna need all the luck you can get.  It’s been a long offseason and I’m ready to run…even if it is on your track.”

Hey, hey watch it now, Green Eyes.  Don’t get the sticky side on me!  I don’t need to lose any fur.  Smoosh against the bottom of the steering wheel as he wraps the tape around and around me.  He better make damn sure I’m tied on good.  If I go flying off while these two are out screwing around--

“Yeah, yeah you keep running your mouth, Shifty.  Care to put your money where your mouth is?”

“I thought you’d never ask.”

“The usual stakes?”

“Sounds good to me, and Kev….”

“Yeah?”

“Thanks.”

Ok, ok, ok enough with the male bonding moment.  I’m ready to RACE!  You guys get to do this all the time.  It’s my turn now!  Green Eyes just better be as good as he says he is cause I don’t like to lose!
