Nationwide Series Race – Loudon, NH – June 27, 2009
“Tire wear looks pretty even.”
“Are you sure? He was worried about the right front?”
“Yeah, yeah it looks good, DeLana.”
“Ok, thanks. I’ll go take care of the media. Looks like they’re coming our way.”
“DeLana, it looks like you have a strong car today. Has Kevin said anything? Does he think you have something for Kyle and Joey?”
“We feel like we have a strong car. Ernie says the tires look good from the last stop and we’ve been running strong all day. As for the Gibbs cars, we feel like we can run with them. We think the changes Ernie and the boys made on the last stop should help with some tightness he’s been having in the corners.”
“Thanks a lot, DeLana. Oh, and by the way, is that a new mascot?”
“Oh, the bear? No, he’s just part of the team.”
Am I REALLY Mommabear?!? Am I really part of the TEAM? Is that why I’m in the pits with you today? I’m part of the crew? You know my uniform doesn’t match, right? But Other Car is different all the time. I’d need lots of new clothes to be like Green Eyes. But I like my clothes, Blonde Mommabear. Can I just keep what I have and still be on the team? I can be like you. We’ll be special team members together, ok?
“DeLana, if you have a minute…. Is it good to have Kevin back in the car this week? Do you think you have something for the front runners today?”
“We wouldn’t be here if we didn’t! We’ve been working really hard on our program and Kevin is always happy to get in the car.”
“One more thing. You had Kelly Bires in the car a couple weeks ago. Is that someone you’re pursuing as a driver for next year?”
“Well, you never know do you? We enjoyed having him drive for us and think he has a lot of talent. As for next year though, we haven’t made any plans.”
“Ok, thanks for your time. I’ll let you get back to the race.”
Blonde Mommabear, people sure do ask you a lot of questions. Why don’t any of the rest of the team talk to people? Do they just want to talk to you because you’re so pretty? Where are we going now? We checked the TVs and the other car shoes and talked to people, can we get on the rolling box now? Do we have to take those papers somewhere? Yaaaaaay rolling box. Now I can see Green Eyes! Go Green Eyes, gooooooooooooo!
“Here’s those numbers you asked for, Ernie.”
“Thanks, DeLana.”
“How’s he doing? Is he still tight?”
“It seems to be a little better. A quiet Harvick is a happy Harvick, right?”
“You got it.”
“I’m surprised he let you steal his little racing partner today.”
“He abandoned him last week. I told him I wasn’t quite ready to give him up yet.”
“Split custody, huh?”
“You could stay that. He’ll have him tomorrow I’m sure. Those my headphones?”
Blonde Mommabear, you didn’t wanna let me go? I like getting to be with you too. It’s fun to see all the Other Car shoes and all the people who take care of Green Eyes and Other Car. But I am a race bear. I need to race! Today can be our day though. As long as I’m with Green Eyes and Big Yellow tomorrow. They neeeeeeeeeeeeed me!
